Harvesting daylight with cutting-edge technology to reap the benefits and achieve substantial energy savings
CTA is an international group and one of the leading suppliers of material and services required in a piping system for the energy and chemical industries.
As part of its expansion plans, the Group opened a new 50,000m² plant in Grezzago, outside Milan in 2014.
In addition to the sales and logistics offices, this plant helps the Group to manage 180,000 tonnes of material pear year.
The management wanted a state-of-the-art LED lighting scheme for this relatively new plant so that they could take full advantage of the benefits of this technology: low energy consumption, reduced maintenance and operating costs and the flexibility to dim the luminaires during the day.
As the warehouse benefits from a high quantity of natural light thanks to its many windows, we proposed a solution incorporating 280 MY1 LED (36W) luminaires managed by the Schréder EXEDRA control system.
Each MY1 LED is connected to a LuCo-PD which communicates with a photocell outside the warehouse to measure the natural daylight levels.
When the natural ambient light levels fall beneath a certain level, the lighting in the warehouse increases to 100%.
The company is delighted with the new lighting system that has not only enabled them to reduce energy costs by more than 50% but also allows them to easily monitor and control the lighting in the plant with an easy-to-use web interface.
We were keen to adopt LED lighting, not only for the substantial reduction in energy costs and carbon footprint, but also to provide a better working environment for our staff
