The project includes two buildings – Axle and The Foundry. Axle is already home to 4,500 employees with another 5,500 of the bank’s retail banking and technology teams to move to The Foundry in mid-late 2020.

The state-of-the-art head office features large open areas, hackable spaces – where barriers to collaboration can be removed – as well as quiet retreat zones for concentrative work.

Powered by 100 per cent renewable energy, the office features standing and adjustable height desks, healthy food options, tranquil retreat spaces and is designed with flexibility, wellbeing, connectivity and sustainability in mind.

A workspace like this must feature exceptional, flexible lighting in order to function as intended. Working closely with specialist lighting designers Llight, Austube delivered Australian made custom LED luminaires, which provide both feature and functional lighting throughout the various spaces.

Continuous and seamless “ribbons” of light enable the lighting to form part of the internal architecture, and remarkably striking bespoke pendants in the meeting rooms give an interesting yet functional result.
